Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking qualified individuals to join our Aeronautical Systems Engineering team as a Mechanical Engineering Lead. In this role, you will apply basic engineering design principles to lead and develop modifications and installations for aircraft structures, mission equipment installations, and mechanical systems installations on a variety of current and future special mission aircraft. Ideal candidates will show an ability to develop innovative solutions to challenging design constraints, a willingness to take on new systems and engineering designs, a drive to identify and mitigate possible downstream obstacles, and offer customers unique solutions allowing the team to maintain a competitive edge. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide guidance, coaching, and training to other junior and senior team members Ensure proposals are vetted for accuracy in cost, scope, and schedule Ensure programs are accomplished on schedule and within budget while complying with process/procedures and program requirements Provides input into new products, processes, standards, and production plans that have measurable impact on the achievement of overall business results Capable of influencing a wide range of audience, and having demonstrated leadership skills to win support without direct reporting structure. Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance which requires US Citizenship. Basic
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or other related engineering field with nine (9) years aircraft design related experience or a Master's Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or other related engineering field with seven (7) years aircraft design related experience Familiarity with FAA (Part 23 or 25) or military aircraft airworthiness design approach, certification process, and requirements Direct experience with manpower planning, milestone scheduling, and related financial management Capable of managing and working in an environment that is fast paced, demanding, with a focus on problem resolution and process improvement Experience running total lifecycle of programs including proposals, bids, planning, assessing/managing risk, and execution Advanced understanding of aircraft systems and various mission systems Must be able to travel to and from flight line and work in aircraft hangar environments (some positions will require the ability to board/exit aircraft) Preferred
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with twelve (12) years aircraft design related experience or Masters Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering with ten (10) years aircraft design related experience Familiarity with FAA (Part 23 or 25) or military aircraft airworthiness design approach, certification process, and requirements Knowledge of with CAD and PLM software, including NX and Teamcenter Experience with exterior aircraft modifications to include antennas, radomes, fairings, heavy structures Experience with interior aircraft modifications to include equipment racks, consoles, wire routing Outstanding communication (both verbally and written), negotiation, collaboration, time management, presentation, and organizational skills Experience with cross-functional communication/coordination Results-oriented, empowering leader with direct experience exceling in a matrixed environment Direct experience with manpower planning, milestone scheduling, and related financial management Ability to perform in-depth Lead reviews on drawings and documents Experience as a Lead over a system product, tasking multiple engineers while maintaining schedule and budget of the product Experience with liaison activities to answer on-the-spot questions for manufacturing and production groups and coordinate engineering design updates Influential leader with good emotional intelligence and ability to coach and develop Interpersonal skills:

Salary Range:
$80K -- $100K
Minimum Qualification
